Ames Patch Five Things: Santa for Pets, OWLS and Vote

Things happening in Ames today and some other things people might want to know.

1) Vote

If you live in the 4th ward, there is a race in Ames. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.

During the last election, both candidates received 42 percent of the vote so a run-off was necessary.

2) Santa

Santa will be taking requests from man's best friend and other animals at North Grand Mall today. Bring your pet for a photo with Santa from 7 to 9 p.m. All pets must be in a carrier or on a leash.

 

3) ISU Pantry

The Iowa State University Food Pantry for students will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Food Science Building. The SHOP Students Helping Our Peers collects and distributes food from students for students Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

 

4) OWLS

Older, Wiser, Livelier, Seniors (OWLS) meet 11 a.m. today at the Story County Conservation Center at McFarland Park. The Iowa Wildlife Center is this month's speaker.

 

5) Weather

The National Weather Service predicted a sunny day with temperatures as high as 24. It will also be pretty windy so it might feel more like zero degrees with the windchill.
