Police: Woman Stole $29,000 from Employers Over 15 Years
A 64-year-old Ames woman could spend 10 years in prison for allegedly overpaying herself.
A 64-year-old Ames woman was arrested on felony theft and forgery charges Sunday.
Police said Mary Gilchrist embezzled $29,000 from two Ames businesses since 1998.
Gilchrist took the funds from Curry-Wille and Associates and Colonial Office Park in Ames not long after she started working for them, according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

Gilchrist was charged with first-degree theft and tampering with records, according to court records available online.
First-degree theft is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and the forgery charge is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by 2 years in prison.
