Police: Woman Stole $29,000 from Employers Over 15 Years

A 64-year-old Ames woman was arrested on felony theft and forgery charges Sunday.

Police said Mary Gilchrist embezzled $29,000 from two Ames businesses since 1998.

Gilchrist took the funds from Curry-Wille and Associates and Colonial Office Park in Ames not long after she started working for them, according to a report in the Ames Tribune.

Gilchrist was charged with first-degree theft and tampering with records, according to court records available online.

First-degree theft is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison and the forgery charge is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by 2 years in prison.

Justin Mowery, 24, Lincoln Way, was charged with fifth-degree theft and credit card fraud at 9:45 a.m.

Roderick Murphy, 24, Clive, was charged with contempt of court at 6:40 p.m.

Kyle Pashan, 20, Stanton Ave., was charged with sell, give or supply alcohol to a person under 21, at 7:15 p.m.

Joshua Raven, 25, Billy Sunday Road, was charged with simple assault at 1:19 a.m.

April 14

Terrell Alfaro, 22, North Dakota Drive, was charged with public intoxication at 12:45 a.m.

Brent Allen, 28, Sherman Ave., was charged with a parole/probation revocation, at 5 p.m.

Paige Amundson, 21, Mortensen Road, was charged with drunkenness/public intoxication at 1:53 a.m.

Robert Johnston, 18, Thunder Road, was charged with possession of a controlled substance at 6:10 p.m.

Mary Gilchrist, 64, Waterfront Drive, was charged with first-degree theft and forgery at 10:40 a.m.
