Iowa State’s Melvin Ejim Could Play in the 2013 World University Games

The soon-to-be senior basketball player is one of 16 players vying to be on Canada's team for the games, according to the Des Moines Register.

Iowa State basketball player Melvin Ejim could be a player on the Canadian team at the 2013 World University Games, according to the Des Moines Register.

Ejim is one of 16 players vying for a spot on the team, the article said. Ejim is originally from Canada.

“He’s in Portland (Oregon) right now, working out with the team,” Cyclone coach Fred Hoiberg told the newspaper. “It’s a great opportunity for him.”

Last summer, Ejim tried out for the Nigerian team to play in the 2012 London Olympics. His parents were born in Nigeria, the Register reported.
