Steve King for President? Congressman Heads to South Carolina

Steve King plans to visit South Carolina and some say the visit indicates that he will run for president in 2016.

Several media outlets including Salon.com are reporting that Iowa Congressman Steve King is well, maybe running for president.

The rumor comes from a meeting that King plans on having in the conservative state of South Carolina.

CNN reports that he will attend the Charleston Meeting --- a meeting of right-leaning power players arranged by Mallory Factor --- in August.

The meeting is set for Aug. 26.

"He is very conservative, and I think the conservative activists will like him," Lin Bennett, a vice chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, told CNN. "But they don't know him."

King's aids wouldn't answer questions about the trip. But the state holds the first primary in the south.
