Corrieri Would Balance Business Needs with Quality of Life

Corrieri plans to run for the at-large seat in the Nov. 5 City Council election.

Amber Corrieri, a development director for Mainstream Living, said she will bring a balance to the city county if elected Nov. 5. 

Corrieri announced her candidacy earlier this spring.

In the announcement Corrieri said that she respects the business community and wants to ensure a high quality of life for all residents at the same time.

She is running for the at-large seat currently held by Peter Orazem. Orazem has opted to run for the Ward 3 seat, according to the Ames Tribune.

Corrieri Announces Bid for the At-large Ames City Council Seat

Amber Corrieri has announced her candidacy for the at-large seat in the upcoming Ames City Council election.

“I’m very proud to call Ames my home and would be honored to serve as a member of the Ames City Council. My candidacy and the policies I will bring a balance to the Council. They are a reflection of my respect for the local business community and my deep commitment to ensuring a high quality of life for all Ames residents.” Corrieri is Director of Development at Mainstream Living, an Ames-based non-profit organization that serves persons with disabilities.

Corrieri says she is committed to directing her efforts to issues that affect the entire community, including; supporting responsible economic growth, preserving Ames’ high quality of life, addressing land and housing needs, and strengthening relationships with Iowa State University.

Corrieri serves on the boards of the Story County ASSET (Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team) and the Boys and Girls Club of Story County. She also serves as the President of the Iowa Alliance for Boys and Girls Clubs of America and leads the Fellows Elementary Chess Club. Corrieri is a member of Ames Noon Rotary, the United Way’s Young Leader’s Society, Leadership Ames Class XXVI and the Ames Chamber of Commerce.

In 2011, Corrieri received the 4 Under 40: Leaders of Today and Tomorrow Award from the Ames Chamber of Commerce. She previously served two terms on the Ames Human Relations Commission, was selected as a member of the Mayor’s Inclusive Community Task Force in 2007, and chaired the Iowa Diversity Conference in 2008 and 2010.

Corrieri was born and raised in Iowa and has lived in Ames for 14 years. Before her current role at Mainstream Living, Corrieri was AVP/Business Banking Officer at Ames Community Bank (now VisionBank). Corrieri’s husband, Damien, has worked for Mary Greeley Medical Center for 11 years and is also a professional coach for the Ames Soccer Club. The couple’s two children, Jordan (10) and Isabella (6) attend Fellows Elementary.
