Powder Sent to Iowa State Daily Deemed Harmless

The white powder found in a package sent to the Iowa State Daily Wednesday was deemed harmless, according to a report in the Des Moines Register.

Public safety officials shut down the Iowa State University's newspaper office as a precaution Wednesday evening after discovering that the package contained a CD, letters and some white powder.

The Iowa State Daily editor Stephen Koenigsfeld tweeted via @skoenigsfeld “A package was sent from a Robert Alberg from Washington state. Contained a few letters and cd. Letters had traces of white powder.”

The Iowa State Daily reported that Alberg had a history of attempting to manufacture Ricin and had sent CDs across the country in a mass mailing recently.
