Iowa State Graduate Plans to Run 400-Mile RAGBRAI Route

The Raymond native plans to travel the route on foot to raise awareness for the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Iowa State University graduate Richard Kresser doesn't plan to get on a bike for this year's RAGBRAI, but that's not going to stop him from traveling the route anyway.

Except he'll be doing it on foot.

Kresser, originally from Raymond, plans to run the route to raise awareness and funds for the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier. He currently is a captain in the Army stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, near Tacoma, Wash.

Kresser completed his first marathon in 2006 and has competed in such extreme events as Seattle's Quadzilla, which entails running four marathons in four days, the article said. He ran his first 50K in 2010, his first 100-miler in March and won his first 50-miler in June.
