Redbox Says Ames is Full of 'Scaredy-Cats'

This town ranks as the 8th least likely to rent a horror film.

Ames residents rank among the least likely Americans to rent horror movies from Redbox.

Ames made Redbox's list of “Scaredy-Cat” cities, coming in at No. 8, according to a recent survey from the company.

“Redbox is on the hunt to find who turns off the lights and gets scared this month!” a release from the company states.

Doing a brief search for the most rented movies this week, scary flicks within Ames' top 20 include, “Scream 4” and a family movie with the word “spooky” in the title, but “Spooky Buddies” is a family film.

In a Redbox 2011 National Halloween Survey, 34 percent of Americans named demons or Satan as the scariest movie villains and 20 percent said creepy kids from movies like “Orphan” and “The Ring” were the scariest. The scariest movie of all time, “The Exorcist” came in first with 31.2 percent of the vote.
