Wednesday Morning Crash Involves Ames Man

Three were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 35 this morning.

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident about 8 a.m. on Interstate 35 between Ames and Des Moines, according to a report from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Sudala Kiojai, 27, Ames, was driving a Volvo and struck a 1999 Ford pickup being driving by Steven Howard Coffman, 34, of Van Meter, causing the pickup to hit a bridge guard rail, according to the crash report.

Coffman and another man, David Allen Rockwell, 51, of West Des Moines, were transported to area hospitals for their injuries. Kiojai refused treatment according to the report. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending. Kiojai was traveling at a high rate of speed according to the report. There was no other information available at the time of this report.
