Assistant City Manager Sheila Lundt retires after 27 years with the city today. The reception is from 2 to 4 p.m. in the community gym.
The City will say goodbye to Assistant City Manager Sheila Lundt at a retirement party held from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the community center gym. Lundt is retiring after working for the city for more than 27 years. She started out as a budget officer and worked her way up becoming the assistant city manager in 2002. “Sheila’s commitment and dedication to serving the residents of Ames will be missed,” said City Manager Steve Schainker, who has worked with Lundt for her entire career at the City. “It has been a tremendous pleasure working with Sheila for nearly three decades, and I encourage others to join me in wishing her well as she enjoys the next chapter of life.”

City of Ames names replacement for retiring Assistant City Manager.
Outgoing Assistant City Manager Sheila Lundt will be replaced with Melissa Mundt, an Ames High School and Iowa State University graduate, the city announced in a release late Monday. Lundt is retiring after working for the city for more than 27 years. There are just three finalists for the assistant city manager position.
One of the four final candidates vying for the Ames Assistant City Manager position has withdrawn. Jason Slowinski was slated to interview in Ames this week and meet the public 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at City Hall. The current assistant city manager will retire in April.
More than 160 people have applied to replace current Assistant City Manager Sheila Lundt, who has served the city for more than 27 years. Lundt retires April 16. The first candidate is Melissa Mundt, an Iowa State University graduate. She will give a public presentation from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in City Council Chambers. Mundt is the assistant city administrator – community development director for Gardner, KA. She also served as Management Analyst for the Village of Lombard, IL. Mundt has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Iowa State University, and a master’s degree in public administration from University of Kansas, in Lawrence, KA.
