Summerfest Starts in Campustown Noon Saturday
Campustown's second annual Summerfest: a day of free activities, games and entertainment begins at noon Saturday along Welch Avenue.
College students are out of town and the Campustown crowd is pretty thin. That makes it a perfect opportunity for the rest of Ames to come out and see what the commercial district, a block from Iowa State University campus, has to offer. For the second year, Campustown Action Association will host Summerfest a day of free activities, entertainment and games. The only thing people need is some money in their pocket for food and beer. Welch Avenue will be blocked off and filled with booths showcasing area businesses, kid's activities, food stands, a beer garden and live music.
