Ames Weekend Weather

See what the National Weather Service predicts for our weekend.

The heat of the last few weeks seems to finally be subsiding. The National Weather Service expects highs in the cool mid 80s through Sunday. There's also a chance of thundershowers Saturday before 1 p.m., but less than a half inch of rain is expected. For Friday a high of 96 is expected. Saturday's high is expected to reach 84 and Sunday's expected high is a relatively cool 80 degrees

Sun in Ames Weather All Week

The National Weather Service expects sunny days through the week.

This week's weather should be good for the Furman Aquatic Center. The National Weather Service forecast through Friday doesn't include a spec of rain, with the exception of a 20 percent chance of rain Monday. Today's temperatures are expected to reach 82 degrees and it's likely to be that way all week, according to the most recent forecast. Highs are expected to reach the upper 70s and mid 80s every day.

Sunny and 70 Ames Weather

Weather in Ames this week.

Ames residents can expect a sunny day with a high in the 70s today and Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Ames. Monday's high is expected to reach 75 degrees and Tuesday a high of 79 is expected. On Wednesday temperatures could reach the 80s. There's also a chance of rain Wednesday night. The rest of the extended forecast is clear through the week.

Highs in the 80s are expected all week.

  You can break out the shorts. The National Weather Service forecast includes sun and highs in the 80s through the week. Monday's high is expected to reach 80 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday could reach 85 degrees or more, according to the forecast out Sunday.

  The cloud of severe weather hanging over Ames appears to have blown away according to the most recent forecast from the National Weather Service. Sun Returns to Ames Weather

Ames should get a break from the rain Monday, but just a short one.

  The National Weather Service reported that the sun will come out today after a long gray weekend.  The day is expected to start off cloudy but become sunny with a high of 71 degrees. Enjoy it while it lasts because the National Weather Service expected rain to return Tuesday evening and for the sun to come back around by Friday.

Don't Put Your Snow Shovel Away Yet Ames

This winter has been one of the warmest on record, but don't rule out another snowfall. Iowa State University experts say at least one day of measurable snowfall in April is likely.

Sunshine, warm breezes, record-setting high temps have been the trend this week. It's like we're in San Diego instead of Ames. Don't pack away all your scarves and boots just yet. According to data compiled by Iowa State University, Ames has seen about 1 day of snowfall each April since 1893. There were four days of snow fall in 1973 and 1982 and one day in 2008 and 2009.  Wednesday saw a record high of 77 degrees, breaking the old mark of 74. Today's forecast from the National Weather Service calls for highs in the upper 70s. What's your prediction for snow?  In 2010 and 2011, Ames went without snow in April.
