Memorial Union Goes Green Just Before VEISHEA
Student project turns a roof on the 1928 building green.
Iowa State University's Memorial Union, a turn of the 20th century building, received a 21st century look just in time for VEISHEA. Members of the ISU Horticulture and Landscape clubs worked through the cold rain on Friday to turn a roof over a service wing green. (click here for photos) Miles Thompson, a senior studying horticulture, designed and led the student project. Thompson said he helped build a similar green roof project at Horticulture Hall and wanted to try another because of his interest in sustainability projects. “I really liked the experience I had with the first one and thought this might be something I wanted to do (as a career,)” Thompson said.
