As we look ahead to November’s elections, Ames Patch is devoted to bringing you the information you need about every race in town. Here are five races that are already contested in Ames. Wessel-Kroeschell of Ames Makes House Bid Official

The Iowa Representative officially announced that she will run for a fifth term.

  Iowa Rep. Beth Wessel-Kroeschell, D-Ames; made her bid for District 45 official today. Wessel-Kroeschell said in a campaign announcement Monday that she's shooting for a fifth-consecutive term in office. Her district has been redrawn but still includes both the southern and east tip of Ames. The Ames native is a ranking member of the human resources committee and also serves on the environmental protection committee, the judiciary committee and the health and human services budget subcommittee, her announcement said. “I am proud of my record providing quality education for our young people, growing Iowa’s economic future, providing healthcare to vulnerable Iowans and keeping the state budget balanced without raising taxes on hardworking …

Four Intend to Run for Ames House Seats

Two Republicans said they will run against Democratic incumbents.

Ames voters will have races in both its Iowa House districts come November. Two Ames men announced their candidacy for Iowa House District 45 and 46. Both Dane Nealson and Stephen Quist will run on the Republican ticket against the current incumbent Democrats Beth Wessel-Kroeschell, (45) and Lisa Heddens (46), both of Ames. Nealson, 26, is a former Iowa State University student who works at Nucara Pharmacy in Nevada. He would face Wessel-Kroeschell in November if no primary round competition emerges.
