Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors is the NBA postseason's top Rookie, according to the Bleacher Report.
The Bleacher Report said Ames High School Graduate Harrison Barnes, of the Golden State Warriors “stole the show” in a Sunday playoff game against the Spurs. Barnes scored 26 points in the win. And teammates credited Barnes with leading the way. "He carried us throughout so much of the game," Jarrett Jack said after the Game 4 win. "He did a tremendous job of leading the way, being aggressive, attacking the basket and we kind of followed his lead." Any Division I school that wanted to take Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg from Ames would have to pay Iowa State University $2 Million, Associated Press says.
Iowa State University Basketball Coach Fred Hoiberg would have to pay the university $2 million if he left to coach at another Division I school or $500,000 if he took a job with the NBA before 2023, according to a report by the Associated Press on Sports Illustrated. The $20 million deal was announced on March 29 shortly after the Cyclones participated in the NCAA Basketball tournament for the second year in a row. Iowa State University released more details about Hoiberg's 10-year contract on Tuesday. Under the contract, Hoiberg receives about $2 million a year and bonuses of $250,000 when the Cyclones make the Final Four and $100,000 for wining the Big 12 Tournament title. Iowa State Senior McGee admitted to stealing cash from wallet was charged with fourth-degree theft on Tuesday, according to police.
Former Iowa State University Cyclone Basketball player Tyrus McGee was charged with fourth-degree theft late Tuesday, after he was caught taking about $200 out of a wallet left in a University cafeteria area, according to Iowa State University Police. A wallet was reported missing Tuesday evening and found on a couch in the Hawthorn Market & Cafe, said Aaron DeLashmutt, of the Iowa State University police. Police reviewed video surveillance and saw McGee going through the wallet and taking the money out, DeLashmutt said. McGee admitted taking the cash and spending some of the money on groceries, DeLashmutt said. McGee returned the other $160 to police, DeLashmutt said. Jeff Hornacek, a guard for the Cyclones from 1982-1986, is an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz. Hornacek, Golden State assistant coach and Indiana Pacers assistant Brian Shaw are candidates, according to a Yahoo! Sports report. The lanky Illinois native quickly became a star for the Cyclones. Under coach Johnny Orr, Hornacek led ISU to the NIT and two NCAA Tournaments, including a the Sweet Sixteen in 1986. He finished has career with more than 1,000 points and 600 assists in college. Ames High School graduate Doug McDermott has his mind made up.
Doug McDermott, an Ames High Little Cyclone basketball star who graduated with Golden State Warrior Harrison Barnes, has decided to play college ball for one more year, rather than enter the NBA draft, according to the Des Moines Register. McDermott currently plays for his father Greg McDermott coach of the Creighton Bluejays. “This is where my heart’s at,” McDermott told the Register. “The NBA can wait. Iowa State Men's Basketball signs new recruit K.J. Bluford

Bluford, a 6-2, 185-pound shooting guard from Northeast Community College (Nebraska), signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Iowa State for the upcoming 2013-14 season, Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg announced today. Bluford is considered one of the best shooters in junior college hoops, drilling 205 3-pointers in his two-year career. Cyclone's Men's Basketball Team made history this season.
The Iowa State Men's Basketball Team's three-point shooters of 2012-13 helped the Cyclones achieve “a historical feat” in its 106 year history, a release from the athletics department states. Iowa State ended the season as the nation's leader in 3-pointers per game and Senior Tyrus McGee became the first Cyclone player to top a statistical category by leading the nation in three point shooting. McGee made 46.4 percent of his three-point shots. The team averaged 9.9 3-pointers per game this season. Read more on Cyclones.com

McGee participated in a 3-Point Contest Thursday and Will Clyburn plays in the All-Star game Friday.
Iowa State Men's Basketball Senior Tyrus McGee didn't make it to the second round of the 2013 State Farm College 3-Point Championship which took place in Atlanta Thursday. McGee did make 16 baskets in the first round, though, according to the Des Moines Register. McGee was one of two Cyclone seniors invited to take part in Final Four activities in Atlanta. Will Clyburn and Coach Fred Hoiberg will participate in the 2013 Reese's College All-Star Game on Friday. Hoiberg will also coach one of the two teams in the National Association of Basketball Coaches game. Doug McDermott, an Ames High Little Cyclone basketball star who graduated with Golden State Warrior Harrison Barnes, said he is thinking about entering the NBA draft, according to the Des Moines Register. McDermott has one year of college eligibility left and currently plays for the Creighton Bluejays.
