Young Professionals of Ames Host Kids Zone at Ames Farmers' Market

Young Professional of Ames partner with youth organizations to provide a new Kids Zone at the Ames Farmers' Market

The Young Professionals of Ames provide a Kids Zone on Saturday mornings from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ames Main Street Farmers' Market on the 400 block of Main Street. Children can stop by to learn about healthy lifestyles through fun activities such as making grass heads or creating a chalk garden. The Kids Zone can be found on the south side of Main Street across from Tom Evans Park every Saturday through the month of September. Local Ames kid-serving organizations are partnering with the Young Professionals to host the Kids Zone. Their collective goal is to provide educational activities for youth which promote healthy lifestyles. Grace Roney, 4, from Boone, shared her recent Kid Zone paper-bag puppet. "Puppet. Ames Full of Farmers' Markets

Three farmers markets offer goods on Saturdays.

Those looking for locally grown produce, Missouri peaches or wine from Iowa grapes can find all of these things and more at one of Ames' three farmers' markets. The hours and dates vary but all run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Each week Ames Patch will introduce you to one of the markets' vendors. Dick DeMoss who leads the North Grand Farmers' Market at the North Grand Mall will be featured Saturday. DeMoss, secretary and treasurer of the Iowa Fruit & Vegetable Growers Association created the North Grand Farmers' Market, and developed its bylaws which have been replicated throughout the state, he said.
