If you're planning to stick around Ames this Memorial Day weekend, here's quick look at the weather for Memorial Day weekend.

Sign up for Ames Patch's free newsletter | Like us on Facebook | Follow us on Twitter Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer. The largest tornado on record to hit near Ames was in 1976, registering as an F5.  Five years ago Friday, an EF5 tornado tore a 43-mile path of destruction in the north east Iowa towns of Parkersburg, New Hartford and Dunkerton, killing eight, injuring 70…

It's National Hamburger Month - How Will You Celebrate the Burger?

May is designated as National Hamburger Month. Ames has quite a few choices to go out for a burger, and making your own is a perfectly acceptable way to honor the American delicacy.

Any hamburger connoisseurs out there? I like to patty my burgers by hand, throw a pad of butter in the middle and crumbled blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onions on top. But, that's just me.
