Urbandale's Allen Lazard is also the top-ranked receiver in the country.
Allen Lazard, an Urbandale High School football player and Iowa State recruit, has been named to Rivals.com’s list of the top 100 high school football players in the Class of 2014. Lazard, a receiver for the J-Hawks, is no. 25 on the list. The 6-foot-5, 204-pounder is also the top-ranked receiver in the country, according to the Des Moines Register. The latest Rivals ranking took Lazard down a spot. In February, he was no. 24 on the list. During the past season Lazard was named to the Elite All State Football Team by the Des Moines Register, according to the Urbandale J-Hawks website. While our area was pummeled with rain and severe weather Sunday night, we could see more as early as Monday afternoon. May is designated as National Hamburger Month. Ames has quite a few choices to go out for a burger, and making your own is a perfectly acceptable way to honor the American delicacy.
Any hamburger connoisseurs out there? I like to patty my burgers by hand, throw a pad of butter in the middle and crumbled blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onions on top. But, that's just me. Going out for a burger is a good option, too. So, while we are celebrating this American delicacy, where's the best burger in Ames?
