I know several faculty who would welcome this development. But you might want to edit the firstRead More sentence under the headline! :-) Adding more faculty will INCREASE the teacher-to-student ratio, and decrease the student-to-teacher ratio.

GMO labeling is a ploy funded by organic and natural product marketers to sell more high-pricedRead More snake oil. Activists want labels to ban GE foods, not to create consumer choices. Labels that are science-based and convey actual ingredient, nutrition and health information are a critical consumer protection (not a right to know) that should be protected. Non-GMO or other process-based distinctions (like Kosher or organic) can be made through marketing claims with the costs born by those who chose those products, not foisted on the rest of us.

The prof, a paid industry mouthpiece courtesy of research funding provided by the Ag biotechRead More industry, is merely singing for his supper by rendering his opinion. Any and all claims of GMO food safety are false...in lieu of a publishing a single clinical human health feeding study that demonstrates GMO harmlessness. To date, after 17 years of Unlabeled GMOs-in-the-US-Food-supply, none has been published.

Every school is a party school because there are kids that party at every school. Kids will party ifRead More they want to party, no matter what school they attend. I would absolutely let my child attend Iowa because it is one of the best public universities in the country in multiple fields. Heidi: it's hard to believe that you got an "advanced degree" from Iowa, seeing your grammar and spelling errors in your post.

The drinking culture of students all over the country has increased and is somewhat disturbing. AndRead More again, I'm not convinced this ranking is based on much scientific research. It's a great institution, and students will set their priorities based on their own value system. And that happens everywhere.
