MLK Day of Service, Add Your Photos

A number of volunteer opportunities are going on today. Ames Patch plans to help ACCESS and snap a few photos.

What will you be doing today? Take some photos and add them too. 

Registration for the volunteer events listed below was due last week but anyone can contribute to the food drive which will be conducted throughout MLK Day on Monday.

Canned food and other nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the 's auditorium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or at the  during the celebration from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Proceeds go to the  food pantry.

Assemble care packages for families at ACCESS, the local domestic violence shelter

Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Accept, sort, & process donations at the Ames Goodwill

Location: , 3718 Lincoln Way

Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., scheduled time flexible

Create Greeting cards for Birthright of Ames' clients & donors

Location: , 108 Hayward Ave.

Time: Stop in between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Supermarket Stakeout food drive for the MICA food pantry

Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for 1-2 hours

Clean & Organize Shelter Rooms

Time: 10 a.m. 2 p.m., scheduled time flexible
