What's Open, What's Closed on July 4 in Ames

You can shop and eat and play, but you can't bank, ride the bus, or mail a letter.

Many businesses and most public offices and services will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in Ames and the metro area, though festivities will take place downtown on Main Street.

Here's a list of what's open and what's closed

All U.S. post offices. No mail will be delivered or collected.

Chitty Garbage will be closed Wednesday, July 4. The holiday garbage collection schedule will be in effect through Saturday July 7.

CyRide buses will not run on July 4.

Ames  will be closed.

 offices will be closed.

Most banks will be closed. Wednesday is a U.S. bank holiday.

Iowa State offices are closed; including all drivers license stations.

Federal offices are closed.

Wednesday's July 4 siren test will be delayed until the following Wednesday, July 11 at 10 a.m., if the weather is good.

 will be open but closes early at 6 p.m.

 will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Fourth.

Ames  will be open.

 Urgent Care Center at Family Medicine East Office will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fourth of July fireworks show will be held July 3 but all other festivities including the free pancake breakfast, Fourth of July Parade, and the Bill Riley Talent Show, the Fourth of July Festival and the American Legion Grand Reopening will still take place on July 4.
