Texas' McCoy Stops Iowa State From Big 12 Win Updated

Iowa State University nearly won its first Big 12 Season opener in a decade. Paul Rhoads said a bad call was to blame.

Longhorn Case McCoy is being credited with stopping Iowa State University from winning its first Big 12 Season Opener in a decade, according to various media reports.

McCoy scored a 1-yard touchdown in the final minute of the game Thursday. The final score was 31-30.

But Coach Paul Rhoads said the game belonged to the Cyclones when a defensive lineman scooped a live ball from the ground and ran toward the goal. Gaming officials did not agree giving the Texas Longhorns more opportunities to score a touchdown in the final minute of the game.

McCoy replaced David Ash who is suffering from a concussion.

“McCoy was far from perfect,” the Washington Post said. “But on a night when the Longhorns and Mack Brown desperately needed a win, McCoy did just enough to help give them one.”

In  media conference after the game Coach Paul Rhoads said the win was stolen from the Cyclones.
