Can Cyclone Wimberly Turn the Texas Tide?

The Iowa State Cyclone, Texas Longhorn kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

Iowa State University heads into the Big 12 Season Opener against the Texas Longhorns Thursday here at the Jack Trice Stadium.

The Cyclones have lost their last 10 Big 12 season openers and lost nine of the last 10 games against the University of Texas.

“They’re Texas.”

In a discussion of changes to Texas' game after the firing of defense coordinator Manny Diaz, Cyclone Running Back Jeff Woody said “They're athletic enough to chase down any ball. … If you don't come ready they're going to shut you down right away.”

Wimberly was named the Big 12 co-offensive player of the week after the Cyclones last game against Tulsa.
