School Board Will Appoint Woodin Replacement

Former board president Dan Woodin's death leaves a two-year vacancy.

The Ames Community School Board is seeking applicants to fulfill the remaining two years of former board president Dan Woodin’s term.

Woodin died last week with lymphoma. He was honored in a remembrance ceremony Monday. He was the only school board member to be re-elected in September of 2011.

The board has decided to fill the remainder of Woodin's two-year term by appointment.

Applicants must be eligible to vote in the Ames Community School District. The application is online in the form of a short survey at http://bit.ly/ACSDBoard.

The survey must be completed by midnight, Saturday, Oct. 5. The board will review applications, hold a discussion at its meeting Monday, Oct. 7, and approve an appointment at its meeting Monday, Oct. 21.
