ISU Girls Basketball Players Drafted to WNBA

Two women will move on to play professional basketball with teams in Seattle and Connecticut.

Chelsea Poppens and Anna Prins, both basketball players at Iowa State University, were drafted to WNBA teams Monday, putting an end to their collegiate athletic careers.

The Seattle Storm selected Poppens 18th overall in the second round of the WNBA draft and Connecticut picked Prins at No. 23, according to KCRG.com.

Poppens averaged 13.4 points per game and hauled in 9.7 boards per game, the article said. She leaves Ames with the second most rebounds in program history (1,091) and the third most double-doubles (32).

Prins will bring size to Connecticut, KCRG reported. The 6-7 center averaged a career best 12.3 points per game last year.
