See How Ames High School Ranked Against the Nation?

U.S. News released its high school rankings Tuesday

is the third best high school in the state according to the latest U.S. News rankings.

U.S. News released its fourth edition of Best High School rankings Tuesday. Two Cedar Rapids schools took first and second place in the state.

None of Iowa's High Schools made U.S. News top 10. That's probably because larger metro areas have magnet or charter schools that place the best and brightest students in the district under one roof.

Nationally, Ames High School ranks 717, earning it a U.S. News silver medal.

U.S. News ranks the schools based on test scores of all student groups and college readiness. Almost 22,000 schools were included in the rankings. Evaluations were made based on data from 2009 and 2010.
