What's Open; What's Closed on Thanksgiving Day

Here's a list of what's open and closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday in Ames.

Many City of Ames departments and divisions will be closed during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave., is closed for a major renovation and expansion project. The library is being temporarily relocated to the former Hastings Book building, 620 Lincoln Way, and should reopen at that site by Dec. 10. The expanded Ames Public Library building is expected to open in the summer of 2014. 

The Community Center in City Hall will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will be open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23. The Municipal Pool and the Ice Arena will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, and open regular hours on Friday, Nov. 23. 

CyRide buses will operate a weekday break schedule Monday, Nov. 19 thru Wed., Nov. 21, and will not run at all on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22. The buses will run a Saturday break schedule on Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24. CyRide will run a Sunday break schedule on Sunday, Nov. 25. 

The Resource Recovery Plant, 110 Center Ave., will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 23, but the plant will be open for regular service from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
