State Sen. Jerry Behn Doesn't Compete For Senate Leader Position

Bill Dix of Shell Rock elected to Behn's minority leadership position.

Sen. Jerry Behn, of Boone, said in a statement Wednesday that he would concentrate on representing his district which includes Story County, rather than a leadership position at the Statehouse.

Behn decided against running for the Iowa Senate Republican Leader position this week. The statement released after the Senate Republican Caucus Wednesday, follows below:

“I decided not to seek re-election to be the Iowa Senate Republican Leader. Our new caucus leadership has my full support and I plan to work hard to ensure that we are successful in the upcoming legislative sessions and the 2014 election. I look forward to spending more time with my family and farming business and serving the hardworking citizens of Boone, Greene, Hamilton, Story and Webster Counties in my new district.”
