Mayor Says Joint Planning Important to City's Future

Ames Mayor Ann Campbell said she will seek a third term in office.

Ames Mayor Ann Campbell announced this week that she will seek re-election in November.

In her campaign announcement she noted the growth in the Iowa State University student population and the Ames Community School District's future facilities plan.

“As exciting new businesses get established and expand in Ames, we need to meet the housing needs for new young families,” Campbell said in the release as reported by the Ames Tribune. “Never before has joint planning amongst all segments of the community been more important.”

She also said she would be able to offer an experienced perspective since there will be a lot of new faces on the council in January. Council Members Jeremy Davis, Jami Larson and Tom Wacha will not run for re-election.

“I am announcing my desire to run for another term as mayor to help guide many of these important projects and work in cooperation with the incumbent and new council members and the outstanding staff of the city of Ames,” she said in the release as reported by the Tribune.
