Ames City Council member and life-long Iowan, Jeremy Davis, announced today that he will seek the Republican nomination for the Iowa Senate District 23 seat in 2014.

Davis supports policies that will increase job opportunities for Iowans, a strong private sector, a legislature that embraces fiscal responsibility and accountability, and a limited government that is responsive to its citizens.

Davis is a life-long Iowan proud to call Ames home. “Iowans deserve better from our State Senate. Today, I am proud to announce my candidacy for the Iowa Senate District 23 seat because the people of Iowa need strong, positive, and effective leadership in the Iowa Senate that focuses on common-sense principles,” said Davis. To ensure a strong quality of life for all Iowa, Davis promotes a new, innovative approach with a long-term vision to resolve budget issues caused by declining federal support.

In announcing his bid for election, Davis stated he would focus on important issues facing Iowa—supporting initiatives to expand and increase private sector job opportunities, ensuring top-ranked educational opportunities for our youth by supporting initiatives that allow individual school districts to make decisions that impact them at the local level, and embracing state budget guidelines and principles that lead to an efficient, limited government while ensuring the necessary services to maintain a strong quality of life. Having been raised on a farm, Davis learned the values of hard work, dedication, and determination to succeed at a young age. These core values guide him on a daily basis; and he will bring those same common sense principles to the Iowa Senate when elected by the citizens to represent District 23.

“As a member of the Iowa Senate, I pledge to work with the citizens of our Senate district to make Iowa the best place to live, work, receive a great education and raise a family,” said Davis. “As Iowans, we are fortunate to have access to a wide variety of resources; yet more can be done to effectively utilize our valuable taxpayer resources. To truly shine we need to become more efficient in our processes by deploying the most innovative solutions that better serve taxpayer needs. If you believe the leadership in the Iowa legislature can and should be doing better, then I promise you I will work diligently to make that vision a reality when we all work together to achieve that common goal,” Davis stated.
