PHOTOS: Congressman King Opens Headquarters in Ames As Protest Ensues

The Iowa Congressman has come under fire recently for comparing immigrants to the pick of the litter.

Republican Congreeman Steve King opened his Ames campaign headquarters Wednesday as about 42 protesters shouted outside his new office on East Lincoln Way.

King has been criticized by national media and political groups for comparing American immigrants to the “.”

King currently represents the 5th Congressional District of Iowa, but will face Ames Democrat Christie Vilsack in a race for Iowa's new 4th Congressional District in November.

While King discussed his plan to Restore our American Dream protesters yelled for King to come outside and “see what Iowa was like.”
