Ames Residents Sound Off On Logo

About 25 comments have been left on the City of Ames Facebook site.

Business leaders are in favor of making a new stylized letter, an A with the arrow, Ames' new official logo. City Council is waiting to see how residents respond before signing off on the new design. Public input is being submitted to City Council on Tuesday.

Here are some of the comments about the design from Ames' Facebook page.

"When I look at it, I see “scissors,” the outline of a marine animal diving downwards or a conehead pac man. Just my two cents."

"Being human I resist change, so that's always a bias I try to fight. I think it looks “leading edge” but I have to admit I am fond of the old logo. I'm also fond of saving money by not rebranding every city document, website, and vehicle.”

“Doesn't do anything for me, what is it?”

“It's not visually appealing.”

“Not a fan I realize it's supposed to look like an A but it looks more like crab pinchers or something since it's in red. Or a sailboat. But definitely not an A.”

“I am not a huge fan of the new logo, it does not strike me as anything special. I give it a “meh.”
