Police Ask for Help in Identifying Swift Stop Robber

A man reportedly tried to rob the gas station about midnight Sunday.

A white male wearing an Iowa State University Cyclones hoody attempted to rob the Swift Stop at 125 Sixth St. about 11:54 p.m. Sunday, according to a release from the Ames Police Department.

The clerk refused to hand over cash when the man demanded money and the robber took out a knife and restrained the clerk. He eventually ran from the store when he couldn't take any cash from the register.

In addition to the hoody, the man was wearing a dark colored ski mask, grey windpants and mismatched gloves.
