How Did Taxes Leave an Ames Man With a Headache and Land His Girlfriend in Jail?

The woman charged now faces a felony count due to her previous assault charges.

An Ames woman accused of domestic abuse might have taken a fight move straight from the Dannon yogurt Super Bowl commercial, in which a woman headbutts John Stamos over Greek yogurt.

Meriah Teamer, a 25-year-old Ames woman, has been charged with domestic assault, a Class D felony, after allegedly headbutting her boyfriend during an argument over tax documents, according to a criminal complaint at the Ames Police Department.

Teamer's boyfriend called police to their Ames home about 6:40 p.m. Monday.

Teamer's boyfriend told police that he went upstairs during an argument to avoid Teamer, but she came upstairs and spit on him and headbutted his face. His lip was bloody and swollen, a complaint said. Teamer complained that her boyfriend had also assaulted her, but there were no marks on her face or neck, the complaint said.

Teamer's assault was a Class D felony because she had been charged with domestic assault twice in 2005 and three times in 2007, the complaint said. Teamer and her boyfriend said they had been together for about two years.
