A 19-year-old Ames man was in for a rude awakening when he was found passed out inside Battle's BBQ after he had fallen or smashed through the business' glass front door, according to criminal complaints.
Ames Police went to Battles BBQ about 6 a.m. Jan. 30 to investigate a report of a man passed out on the floor and that the front door had been smashed out, complaints said.
A red knuckled Kolbe Stenoien, of Frederickson Court, was found sitting on the floor by police, complaints said. The front door was smashed, items were strewn across the floor and Stenoien had glass shavings on his boots, complaints said. Police also saw a matching boot print on a window inside the restaurant however that particular window did not break, complaints said.
Damage was estimated at $600. Police talked to Stenoien and noticed that he had bloodshot watery eyes, smelled of alcoholic beverages and didn't know where he was or what time it was, complaints said.
Stenoien was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, public intoxication, and criminal trespass.
