Third Annual Maximum Ames Music Festival Begins Thursday
Maximum Ames Music Festival 2013 Schedule.
Maximum Ames Music Festival 2013 begins Thursday and includes 28 shows, and more than 100 bands in 20 venues around Ames.
Nate Logsdon, who cofounded the festival with Mumford's bandmate Chris Lyng, said most headliners are living legends and some have Iowa connections, according to a preview in the Des Moines Register.
The Zombies, British rockers, are living legends and Greg Brown and Bo Ramsey have Iowa roots.

The Zombies headline Saturday and will perform in the Ames City Auditorium and Brown, a Grammy nominated recording artist and “Godfather of Iowa Music” and Ramsey, an Iowa blues legend, will headline Friday with a performance scheduled at DG's Tap House.
Since the inaugural festival of 2011, Logsdon and Lyng have added more acts, a few venues and expect more attendees.

Future goals include booking acts at Stephens Auditorium or Hilton Coliseum, Logsdon told the Register.
New this year are all festival passes for people under the ages of 21. As it sounds, the passes will grant all access to venues that don't have a minimum age limit to enter.
And expect social media to play a role. Follow MAMF via Twitter @maxamesfest or Facebook for updates to the schedule once the festival begins.
