Winter Storm Magnus Drops Snow, Brings Chilling Temperatures

Snow stopped falling and freezing temperatures are on the way, according to the National Weather Service. Here's the latest road conditions from the Iowa DOT.

Now that the snowfall is over, dangerous windchills are settling in.

Winter Storm Magnus brought as much as five inches of snow to the Ames area and powdery blowing snow canceled Ames area schools and events.

The National Weather Service predicts that dangerous windchills will last into Friday.

Thursday's low is predicted to drop to 8 degrees below zero overnight with windchills as low as -25.

But Saturday temperatures were predicted to climb into the low 30s.

Major roads are covered with a mix of ice and snow around the Ames and Des Moines area, according to information from the Iowa DOT. However all roads remain open, despite accidents in other parts of the state.
