Ames Five Things: Mythical Hikes, Music and Stars

Things Happening in Ames this weekend and some other things you might want to know.

1) Band Spectacular

The Ames High School Marching Band is holding its Annual Marching Band Spectacular at 7:30 pm Friday, Oct. 14, at the Ames High School Gymnasium following the 25th annual Academic Letters Convocation. Tickets are $3 per student, $5 per adult and $10 for a family.

2) Backyard Astronomy

A session on backyard astronomy will begin at 7 p.m. at the ISU Planetarium, Physics Hall. Free tickets are available at 6:30 p.m. If the weather permits presenters will go to the planetarium's backyard after the show for star gazing.

3) Blast

Have a Blast at Stephen's Auditorium and watch a Tony winning broadway performance.

4) Symphony Saturday

Central Iowa Symphony will play 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Ames City Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors.

5) Halloween Hike

Get ready for the season by taking a through McFarland Park sponsored by Story County Conservation, where common myths will be revealed.
