'Cool Cats' Promotes Free Cat Adoptions

From City of Ames

AMES, Iowa – Due to capacity numbers of cats and kittens, the Ames Animal Shelter is offering free adoptions through its “Cool Cats” promotion. “Cool Cats” are already spayed and neutered cats in need of homes with qualified adopters. Free adoptions include distemper vaccine, deworming, and flea/tick treatment and preventatives.

“We are a small, successful shelter looking to maintain - or exceed - our record high adoption and reclaim rates,” said Lorna Lavender, Ames Animal Shelter Supervisor. “These affectionate, loving animals need homes dedicated to their long-term care and safety.”

Ames Animal Shelter staff work hard to match cats and kittens with qualified adopters who can provide proper vet care, indoor housing with limited, supervised time outdoors, and a life-long home. “While adopting a cat or kitten from the Ames Animal Shelter can provide a loyal companion and a new friend, pet ownership should always be a thoughtful process and commitment,” Lavender said.

The “Cool Cats” free adoptions will be offered for a limited time only. Prospective adopters are invited to visit the Ames Animal Shelter and interact with the cats and kittens available. The Ames Animal Shelter is located at 325 Billy Sunday Road.  The phone number is 515.239.5530.
