(BLOG) Iowa Supreme Court Justices Ousted Following Gay Marriage Ruling to Be Honored With Courage Award

From Tara:

The three Iowa Supreme Court Justices who were removed from the bench in 2010 after joining in the unanimous ruling that made same-sex marriage legal in Iowa will receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Justices Marsha Ternus, Michael Streit, and Carl Baker will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, DC, in May. They join an impressive and inspiring list of prior recipients of the prestigious award.

Congratulations to Justices Ternus and Baker, and to my dear friend Justice Streit, for this recognition. You make me proud to be a member of the legal profession.

Didn't Ternus have a huge lapse of memory about knowing her son was having a drunken party in her backyard and receive the most NO votes of being kicked off the bench. That fact alone tells you the truth about the current state of the Judiciary in Iowa . Losing your memory about your family activites is just cause for worrying that she might lose her memory again in court when faced with another moral choice. Giving these people an award for anything is a joke.
