The Current and Proposed Ames Logo Side by Side.

What do you think?

Ames residents are weighing in on a proposed logo for the city.

The current Ames Logo has been in use since the mid 1990s. It is an abstract design, a diamond with a swish. The logo being proposed by the city is a contemporary stylized letter A that also includes an arrow.

Susan Gwiasda, Ames public relations officer, said the current logo was the result of an internal city employee contest. The city has used the blue and green logo for at least the last 15 years.

A branding consultant suggested that the city come up with a new logo to match its new vision statement and share it with other agencies that market Ames. Ames Chamber of Commerce, the Ames Economic Development Commission and the Ames Convention and Visitors Bureau were also designing a unified logo and agreed to incorporate Ames' new vision statement and have approved the new stylized letter, an A with the arrow.
