“I have in my office drafts of facilities plans going back almost 30 years,” Taylor said. “The community’s support for the bond referendum and the school board’s completion of a facilities master plan represents a turning point in the history of Ames and the school district. When that first brick gets placed at Miller Avenue, it will represent a real commitment to generations of learners.”

Voters approved a $55 million bond referendum for construction and renovation projects for five elementary schools in the district. Three will be replaced and two will receive renovations. The school at Miller Avenue will be the district's first.
