LETTER: Ames Public Library Director Thanks Ames

Weeks thanks community for voting yes and discusses future plans for a renovated building.

On behalf of the staff of Ames Public Library, I want to express my appreciation for the outpouring of support this year for the Library Renewal Project. We are especially humbled by the outpouring of support for the bond issue that was approved by 76 percent of the voters this past November.

For the past three years, we have been actively engaged in community dialog to determine the future of Ames Public Library and the facility that will serve in the years ahead. Because of the support of the community, this library will continue to be an excellent resource for our growing city of readers, learners, and idea creators.

This coming year, the architects will be developing the design and preparing the documents which will bid the project to potential contractors. By this time next year, the Library Renewal Project will be underway. Thank you for coming together and supporting our common goal: to make Ames a great place to live, work, and grow!
