Will Thunderstorms Spoil Father's Day Weekend Plans in Ames?
Ames could see several thunderstorms over the next couple days, according to the National Weather Service.
If you've got outdoor plans with your dad for Father's Day, you might want to start looking for some spare umbrellas.
A hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service is predicting scattered thunderstorms today and Saturday. There's a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Friday (today), and a 40 percent chance of storms tonight.
On Saturday, the chance of precipitation increases to 60 percent, with a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday night.
If you're planning to wash dad's car as a gift to him, keep the auto in the garage. Severe storms may occur through Saturday evening, with main threats being large hail, according to the outlook. It's much easier to polish with wax than buff out dents.
Sunday should be mostly sunny, so hold back on teeing off at the golf course with dad until then.
