Ames Police Investigate Gun Fire at Zeke's

Shots were fired outside the live music establishment just before midnight.

Ames Police say they are investigating shots fired near the Zeke's Live Music parking lot Saturday night.

Officers in the area said they heard gun fire near Zeke's at 3929 Lincoln Way about 11:30 p.m.

They saw several people fighting in the parking lot and running from the area, a release said.

An Urban Art Show was scheduled from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Zeke's Saturday, according to the Ames Patch events calendar. Performances included singers, rappers, dancers, poets and more.

People with the venue have said there was not a shooting at their venue but shots were heard in the area after attendees of a hip hop event left the building. Read the full statement.
