Ames Police: Drunk Man Brings Beer and Marijuana to Mary Greeley

Police said they had to subdue the intoxicated man who tried to run.

Ames police say a drunk man brought a can of beer and a bag of a marijuana to Mary Greeley Medical Center recently.

He attracted attention of Β Mary Greeley Medical Center's staff while trying to use an emergency room payphone with his buddy, complaints said.

When police arrived about 2:30 a.m. Saturday March 9 they spoke to Donavan Cirksena, 33, and noticed he smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot watery eyes, according to complaints. Cirksena and the other man said they had been drinking at a bar and police later found an unopened can of beer and a bag of marijuana in Cirksena's pockets, complaints said. Police made the discovery when they asked Cirksena for his name and he gave a false identity that was similar to another man's who had warrants out for his arrest. They patted him down and felt the bag of suspected marijuana and that's when Cirksena tried to run, according to complaints. Police tried to restrain Cirksena, but he continued to resist and the officer was forced to take Cirksena to the ground in order to gain control, complaints said.
