Story County Sheriff’s Office Announces Junior Citizen’s Academy
Sheriff Paul H. Fitzgerald announced that the Story County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for its first annual Junior Citizen’s Academy.
The three-hour classes (9:00 a.m.– 12:00 p.m.) begin on Saturday, June 23, 2012 and continue on Saturday mornings for six weeks, with a break over the weekend following July 4th, 2012.
Graduation will be held on August 4, 2012. In the Junior Citizen’s Academy, teenagers ages 13-17 will learn about the Story County Sheriff’s Office and what it takes to provide law enforcement services to the citizens of Story County. The sessions include presentations from Administration, Support Services, Field Services and the Jail Division. Topics include patrol operations, investigations, firearm safety, hostage negotiations, drug investigation and much more. There is no cost to participate and the deadline to apply for the program is June 1, 2012.
